Create the digital time capsule
Start a capsule and upload the photos, video, or voice note you want them to discover. Keep the message short enough to feel intimate, not like a homework assignment.
A 30–90 second voice note plus three favorite photos is a wonderful first version.

Schedule the unlock date
Set the reveal to their birthday, party time, or the morning they open the card. The capsule stays private until that moment.
Choose a time after the card is likely to be in their hands, especially if it is mailed.

Download the printable QR insert
Use the share menu to create a high-resolution QR insert sized for a greeting card. Save a clean version for future reprints.
Add one line above it: ‘Scan this when you’re ready for one more surprise.’

Print, trim, and test
Print on standard paper or sticker paper, trim the insert, and scan it once from your phone before sealing the card.
Test in the same lighting where the card will probably be opened.

Give the code breathing room
Keep a clean white border around every edge of the QR.
Test at arm’s length
If it scans easily without perfect positioning, it is ready.
If a second phone can scan it quickly, the birthday card is ready.
Make the card feel personal
